FIRST YEAR SUCCESS DOWN TO NETWORKING - Julia Watson

Business is booming and Julia Watson, of W17 Ltd, puts it all down to networking. So much so, that she's just celebrated her extremely successful first year's trading with colleagues from Northampton BNI, the town's biggest regular networking organisation.

It seems no more than five minutes ago that event manager Julia Watson decided it was time to go it alone. After 6 years working for Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce, she wanted a change, and so set up W17 Limited - excited at the prospect of a new challenge, but nervous at the thought of running her own business. Julia arranges all sorts of events, from conferences, exhibitions, gala dinners and business seminars, with as much or as little organising as you require.

One year later Julia is thrilled with her business success. "Starting out on your own is very intimidating at first," admitted Julia. "Although I was known in the County, I decided it's now or never and took that giant step into the world of self employment, and to be honest I haven't looked back!'

"But I've had fantastic help from so many people over the past 12 months and in particular from my friends and colleagues at BNI. We meet at Kingsthorpe Golf Club every Tuesday, and it's not just about getting business referrals, it's the personal development and support you get from so many experienced people."

Looking forward, Julia concluded, "W17 is very exciting. We are keen to speak to any business or individual who needs to organise an event because we know we can make a difference. Our USP is detail, we are critical of every one so that your event is a complete success, and many of my BNI colleagues can testify that to my credit."
