WORKING FOR STANAIR IS GOOD FOR YOU - OFFICIAL!

28/05/03

Kettering based Stanair Industrial Doors has been "re-recognised" by the Investor In People organisation - which means they continue to be officially acknowledged as one of the best employers in the area.

And what has delighted the team at Stanair in particular, is that they were assessed against the new, improved profile standard this year, which benchmarks their performance against other organisations.

Said managing director Michael Markham: "I'm really pleased. Being recognised in the first place is one thing, but re-recognition is often more difficult, and we've come through this test with flying colours.

"This year the organisation have raised the standards...and it's a real feather in the cap that Stanair has met them, and it proves that we continue to take our responsibilities as an employee seriously," said Mr Markham.

"Being recognised as an Investor in People also boosts our credibility in the eyes of our many customers, and our potential new customers.

"They know that we have a fully trained workforce, we make an investment in our staff, and therefore they are amongst the best in the business. It improves our competitive edge because people have confidence in us at all times."

This latest news from Stanair - who are based on the Telford Way Industrial Estate in Kettering - follows on from its award winning 2002. The company won two major awards: the National Training Award 2002 and the National Training Excellence Award, and received the Age Positive Employer Champion Status - only 51 other companies nationwide have been recognised!

Notes to Editors:

The Investors in People Standard was developed in 1990 in collaboration with the UK's leading businesses both large and small. The Standard provides a framework for improving business performance and competitiveness, through good practice in human resource development.

An organisation that has achieved the Standard has been successful in adopting and maintaining its four fundamental principles: Commitment - to developing its people in order to achieve its aims and objectives; Planning - in order to be clear about is aims and its objectives and what its people need to do to achieve them; Action - developing its people effectively in order to improve its performance; and lastly; Evaluation - understanding the impact of its investment in people on its performance.

The Investors in People Standard is promoted and developed by Investors in People UK - a public body whose main stakeholder is the Department for Education and Skills. The organisation has responsibility for setting the Standard, driving its progress forward through national promotion, monitoring of quality, and ensuring its continuing credibility and relevance to all UK employers and employees.
