Age proves no barrier to Stanair's continued success story!

24/03/03

BNI member STANAIR INDUSTRIAL DOOR SERVICES Ltd has become the first company in Northamptonshire to receive official recognition for its approach towards employing mature workers.

It's the company's third major national honour in three months. The latest award is from the AGE POSITIVE CAMPAIGN, who have awarded STANAIR the prestigious Age Positive Employer Champion Status - only 51 other companies nationwide have been recognised in this way!

"We are all very proud to be recognised for what we do," said managing director Michael Markham.
"But we always employ people purely on merit and nothing else - whether they might be youngsters fresh from college who we can groom to be the future of STANAIR, or older, experienced workers who still have plenty to offer and lots of enthusiasm, and who can help us continue to go from strength to strength here and now."

Age Positive Champions are individuals, businesses, academic institutions, research or lobby organisations that tackle the issue of age discrimination in their own workplace, and can demonstrate that they are taking practical steps to become Age Positive.

Champions, such as STANAIR, play a vital role in the campaign by promoting their own best practice and highlighting the practical business benefits of having a mixed age workforce. They also encourage employers and individuals to tackle age discrimination in the workplace.

A spokesman for the Age Positive campaign said: "Age Positive are proud to have STANAIR on board as a new Age Positive Employer Champion. We look forward to working with them in the future to promote age diversity in the workplace."

Back in December, STANAIR - based on the Telford Way Industrial Estate - was twice honoured for the quality of its staff training schemes. First of all the company was handed a National Training Award; then, just weeks later, won the prestigious Training Excellence Award, given only to the select few in the United Kingdom who have proved they have reached the highest standards.
