A major Northampton networking organisation has appointed Julie Holdom its new chapter director - and her aim over the next six months is to make the Collingtree branch of Business Network International even more of a successful meeting place for its regular members.
Julie, who works for the telephone answering organisation Verbatim Central Counties, takes over from Wellingborough based printer Colin Brett, and says she wants to attract even more local businessmen and women to come along to the weekly breakfast meetings during her six months in office.
"We're now upto 30 regular members, and there's a fantastic amount of business passed around the table week in week out," said Julie. "But obviously the more members we can attract, the better for everyone.
"BNI is based on the principle of Givers Gain - if I give you business then you'll want to give me business in return, and it's proved to be a very successful formula," she said. "The idea is that we meet every Tuesday morning, get to know lots about each others businesses, and through that we then have the confidence to pass on the names of fellow members to our individual contacts and clients that might need a particular service.
"There's a great variety of businesses represented at our meetings, there's a tremendous team spirit and camaraderie at our BNI chapter, and at the start of this year we won an international award for the amount of referrals we passed on to each other during the course of the previous 12 months, so you can see why people regard it as such an important method of doing business." |
